Woke up with the thought of how many book projects get abandoned - TopicsExpress

Woke up with the thought of how many book projects get abandoned midway. Many are translation projects, some are biographies, some are compilation of data that were gathered for publication as black papers, some are ones own fiction-writing phantasmagorias, some are political pamphlets, some are poems, and so on. I dont know if I should look at that heap and be happy that I escaped getting stuck in any of those projects, or if I should lament my own lack of steam and support to see them through till the end. It is obviously not just an issue of time, but also a variety of problematic factors. There are some works of translation that Ive completed everything that I could do from my side, but they still sleep under my table and gather dust. Compared to ten years ago, I just know that Im far less enthusiastic about new projects merely because Im dampened by the idea that perhaps they will never see the light to day. This comes across to people from the outside as being choosy or picky or plain blasé attitude, but I dont think there is choice involved. And on top of all this, there is nagging feeling that Id be happier if I was just reading instead of working on something.
