Womad stands for World of Music and Dance, we went down to the festival to explore their renowned World of Children last weekend. Womad is one of our top picks of family friendly music events in the UK this summer, for more festivities the whole family can enjoy, have a look at our Festival Edit. The festival took place in beautiful Wiltshire, artists from around the world charmed the little ones and the grown ups too with a variety of musical genres and activities. The laid back atmosphere is one to experience as kids from all over globe met and played together in the delightful sunshine. The World of Children was bursting with things to do, we really loved Trashion Fashion where you could recycle, design and create a new outfit in just under an hour! We also took part in African dancing and drumming where we met some lovely girls who then set off to perform their dance routine around the festival to raise money for charity. This years theme was ‘Save the Bees,’ we were really excited to learn as much as we could about them and see all the bee inspired art around the World of Children. We started off at the Carnival Arts to make a bee and flew it around an obstacle course, we then stopped off at the Bee Aware workshop for some crafts, honey tasting and dancing. We ended our Bee-autiful day with stories and heart warming tales of bees, flowers and trees, it couldn’t have been anymore magical.
