Woman of God...whatever you receive from God is what He asks that you give to someone else. This is what Jesus meant when He said, “Freely you have received; freely give” Matthew 10:8. I saw the power of this the time my little grandson & I were in Naperville. We had a fun day at the park with my neighbors little grandson...& I had given him 5 dollars to buy a book he would like. Brody...on the other hand...was happy just to play & feed the ducks! But I was on a mission...I was headed to the bookstore! Suddenly...I realized that his little hand was no longer in mine. I turned around to find him...just steps behind...he had stopped to kneel at the curb next to a man who appeared to be homeless. He held out to him the $5 I’d given him to buy a new book. He had been holding tight to that money the entire day...it was a treasure...a gift for a special day with just the two of us...he was headed to pick out a book & buy it all by himself! Now...without hesitation...he was handing it to a stranger. “Jesus gave me this money to give to you,” he told the man. How easily he had handed over what was so precious to him. How powerful that mere five bucks became...the man he handed it to handed it back...tears streaming down his face. “little man...you spend that on some candy for yourself.” He had been given something much more precious than money...Brody had given his heart...& so much more. He gave this stranger hope...he reminded him that there was love...grace... goodness in this world. Brody showed this man that God would provide...even from the least & most unlikely sources. Brody had pulled away from me to stop right there...& God had gone with him. He used a little boys open hand to touch a stranger’s heart...He used his willing spirit on that day to show me that when we give what we have...& don’t overthink it...dont give our opinion ...God...the God of love & grace & mercy & hope...He delivers all the rest.
