Women in Stanfords class of 1994 slowed by gender barriers. When - TopicsExpress

Women in Stanfords class of 1994 slowed by gender barriers. When I worked there, I attended EE and CS classes which were dominated by guys (probably 80%+). The EE dept was largely Chinese/Asian guys; the CS department a mixture of white, Indian and Asian. It would be interesting to do a study of these STEM classes by gender and track the alumnis career paths. In fact, a nationwide comparative study of university STEM majors would help understand and revise their policies. It should be considered a matter of international competitiveness since about 70% of the $72 trillion global economy, or $50 trillion is consumer, which is heavily decided by women. nytimes/interactive/2014/12/23/us/gender-gaps-stanford-94.html
