Women really come to the front in the 80s. Many point to Patti Smith as their inspiration. Know as the Godmother of Punk she was another artist that frequented CBGB and worked with many of the musicians in the punk movement. She actually cowrote Because the Night with Bruce Springsteen who was only an up and comer then... Her poetry and lyrics attracted a devoted following to this day, particularly for the album Horses. This song came on yesterday and reminded me that somethings really havent changed that much. Even with all of the movements we havent achieved many of the needed reforms and if anything, the only thing that continues to grow is cynicism. Right or left will continue to switch positions back and forth to suit them until we remember, and use this.....
