MEDIA RELEASE: Army to select female Soldier observer/advisors for potential Ranger Assessment this week FORT BENNING, Georgia - More than 40 candidates began a weeklong assessment today for female Soldiers hoping to serve as observers and advisors during a potential Ranger Course Assessment. Although the decision to conduct a Ranger Course Assessment will not be made until January, Soldiers who will serve as observers and advisors are conducting this training now, so they can observe and understand how the Ranger Course is conducted. After completion of these five days of training, selected observers and advisors will go through a modified Ranger Instructor training program that will prepare them for a specifically assigned area, such as a mountain or swamp training environment. After completing the modified training, these observers and advisors will observe two cycles of the Ranger Course prior to a possible Ranger Course Assessment in the spring of 2015. The selection process for women observers and advisors will be complete Friday.
