Wonderful ADPR Volunteers, Thank you so much for all your hard work and effort on behalf of the homeless dogs and puppies in Alaska. We (the ADPR Board) appreciate every one of you and the work that you do. I want to thank everyone that has completed the volunteer/foster-home survey emailed a few weeks ago, and encourage anyone that has not taken the time to complete it, to please do so now. It’s an easy 10 question survey that will allow us to add you to our new database and ensure we have correct information. If you have not completed the volunteer/foster-home survey please follow the link below: surveymonkey/s/RQ9TMTS (NOTE: If you choose the option to be removed from all volunteer requests you will need to include your name in order for us to remove you; or you can send an email to adprvolunteers@gmail and request to be removed.) In order to reach all volunteers while the database is being updated this request is being sent via the fosterfinder4adpr@hotmail, adpr03@yahoo,and adprvolunteers@gmail emails. I apologize in advance if you receive this email multiple times. ADPR is currently to fill the following volunteer positions: A. Phones: 1. One volunteer willing to checking the ADPR voicemail on the main line on THUR/FRI/SAT. This would entail checking the messages once or twice a day, returning calls to gather information or to answer questions, and then forwarding the information to the appropriate person. 2. Two volunteers willing to be backup phone volunteers. When the main phone volunteers are unavailable one of these volunteers would cover the phones on those days. B. Return Coordinators: 1. One volunteer willing to talk to the public wanting to re-home their ADPR adopted dog. Volunteer would be responsible for letting the owners know ADPR return policy, working with them on possible behavioral issues, or giving them references for where to get assistance. They would also coordinate between the foster-home coordinator, foster-home, and dog owner. 2. One volunteer to assist the public with non ADPR dogs they are wishing to re-home. Volunteer would be responsible for talking with the public and giving them ideas on how to find a home for their dog. Often times it’s just giving them ideas or resources to help with a particular issue. C. Foster-Home Assistants: 1. Three volunteers in Anchorage 2. Two volunteers in ER/Chugach 3. Four volunteers in Palmer/Wasilla Details: Foster-home coordinating/foster-home assistance are very pivotal positions for ADPR. I’m looking for multiple volunteers willing to assist by working with foster-homes. You would be assigned a number of foster homes to work with. Each volunteer would be responsible contacting your foster homes to assist with finding homes for dogs needing fosters. You would also be responsible for assisting your foster-homes by working with the foster-home mentor, foster-home coordinator or directly with the foster-home regarding supplies (food, toys, kennels etc) and offering advice and assistance with other issues as needed. In addition to the list above we are looking for volunteers to assist with the following items: D. Dog Walkers Looking for several volunteers willing to go by the ADPR office and walk dogs that are kenneled there; we would love to have enough volunteers to cover each day of the week. Most of these dogs are special needs dogs (but not all) and we would ask that no one under the age of 17 be in attendance while walking the dogs. E. Grounds Maintenance: Looking for 1 or 2 volunteers that can come by the office at least weekly to assist with maintaining the lawn, flower gardens (or maybe to plant some flowers) and general yard maintenance. F. Office Maintenance: Looking for one volunteer that can come by the ADP office at twice a week and assist with laundry, and other general maintenance/cleaning items. ADPR also has some upcoming events that we will be recruiting for very soon: June 15 th : Anchorage Pet Expo (Sullivan Arena, Anchorage) (Please look for the volunteer request in your email following this email) July 10-14 th : Bear Paw in Eagle River (parade and booth) August 10 th : Dawg Days of Summer (Dog friendly event at the ADPR Office) ADOPT a HIGHWAY: ADPR has adopted a portion of road in the Palmer Wasilla area. Several Times throughout the summer we will be scheduling clean up for our “stretch of road” if this is something you are interested in please email ADPRvolunteers@gmail. If you are interested in volunteering for any of the upcoming events or volunteer opportunities, have questions, or would like additional information please email ADPRvolunteers@gmail (Make sure you have filled out the volunteer/foster-home survey mentioned above so that you can be added to the volunteer database.) Let me thank you in advance for volunteering to help ADPR in our mission of finding homes for the homeless dogs and puppies throughout Alaska. ~Kathy ADPR Volunteer Coordinator
