Wonderful conditions were had today with calm seas and visibility that was far better than weve had in days! As we launched we saw a manta from the boat and heading offshore we had hoped to spot some whales, however the area was relatively quite with only one sighting of dolphins, a mom and calf dyad, Bo and her little boy Blu. Entering in we were awash in an array of stingers that found everyone scurrying back to the boat! DolphinCares biologist Diana headed down to Cape Town yesterday for the start of a workshop on estimating marine mammal abundance and life history parameters. Something that will benefit our current long-term monitoring of the dolphins and whale migration that takes place within the Ponta do Ouro Partial Marine Reserve in Mozambique.
