Wonderful foot soak to beat persistent foot odour - put warm-hot water in a foot bath (or bucket will do), add 10 drops (half a cap full) of tea tree oil and 3-5 drops lavender oil and soak your feet for as long as you like (about ten minutes at minimum). Once the skin is softened by the soak, give them a good hard scrub with pumice stone or a hard (foot) scrubbing brush to get rid of the dead skin. Foot odour is caused by anaerobic bacteria in the skin that thrive in those enclosed, unbreathing shoes. Bacteria can penetrate into the skin layers so you might need to soak your feet for a few nights in a row, but even just one soak does wonders to get rid of bad foot smells. Tea tree oil and lavender will kill off most of the bacteria and leave you with sweeter smelling footsies. I am planning on trying this as a shoe spray too. Will let you know how it goes.
