Wonderful idea to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month just posted by JJOb in the Alma Flor Ada page: To celebrate Hispanic Heritage month our school will have a program after several years of not having one. Im sure the kids will enjoy it! One act that I have in mind is to have students dress up as campesinos and Cesar Chavez to act out their work, marches, and victories. Students can pause and give more information about their character and important dates. This is still an ongoing process, so we will add more figures to it. As far in the classroom, one plan that I have in mind is to feature Hispanic authors and their books. Students can read these biographies to learn more about them and to spark interests in new books. Of course, we will be reading these books in class and tying them up with what were teaching such as the writing process, visualization,historical fiction, and others. These are just some ideas to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month.
