Wonderful news!!!!!!! Charmers mom saw the flyers we posted around the neighborhood and redeemed him from the shelter this morning!!!!!! She is Spanish speaking and had her friend call me to do interpretation. It seemed the leash broke and Sleepy (his real name!) escaped. She has been looking for him and was so happy to know he was found. They asked for the address of the shelter and I gave it. She didnt have a car but said she would find a way to get to North Central. I volunteered to drive her tomorrow if she wanted and she said no, she had to get him today. I told them that there will be redemption fees and she would have to prove she was the owner and to bring pictures. She said that he was licensed so that was a good thing. She lived about 2-3 blocks from where we found him. I heard her sounding very worried in the background. She was also very relieved. So FLYERS do work!!!! I made sure to make English and Spanish text (with the help of Google translator) ones and it WORKED!!!! I posted flyer within two blocks of where we found him, every corner, tree and bus stop. And I put the truth that once his hold tomorrow at 9 am came up, we wont know his fate and he may be euthanized if he is not adopted. My friend Unique who found him, after calling Animal Control (to see if they could pick up the dog last Saturday), was told that dogs that entered the shelter would get adopted, I told Unique when we were in the shelter that we had to actively work on this dogs adoption/owner redemption because he might be euthanized...it never even entered her mind euthanizations happened in shelters. She didnt know.I explained how LA city and county are not yet NO KILL facilities and adoption was not a guarantee. But lets get back to the celebratory mood we both are feeling!!!! Thanks to everyone who have stepped up to foster Sharon Tomlin...thank you so much and for those of you from far and wide who have expressed support and concern for Charmer/Sleepy Robin Skov Gretchen Bell Glenn Tuliau Jill Gasparac Raymond Dussault,Kris Azzarello, Andrea Rice. Thank you to the North Central Shelter Intervention Program for looking in on us when we entered the shelter last Saturday and touching base on FB. It truly makes my heart happy to see good people and circumstance abound in the universe! Accidents and misfortunes do happen and dogs get away...so please if you come across a lost soul, if you are able...dont look away and do all you can in your power to do something good... Say Yes, I will be there for you!
