Wonderful plan... bravo to Seattle! Why cant every city do this to benefit the less fortunate and the homeless? In fact in Palm Springs there are tons of fruit bearing trees in communities, where of course only residents can take advantage of the bounty. Ive watched loads of ripened fruit rot on the ground or hauled off for I assume the garbage! Why not collect this fruit, while its still edible, bring it to a central location and allow any one who wants it, to take it. Likewise, instead of tossing edible food from restaurants, schools and grocery stores, why not again, have a centralized location in towns for a FREE farmers market, for those who no means to get food beyond a garbage can! I know Ill receive a dozen reasons why it CANT be done! Cant does not exist in my vocabulary.... where theres a will, a few caring people and unity of minds, anything CAN be done. Its time to start thinking outside the box and moving away from indifference!
