Wonderful, wonderful Claire update! Thanks be to God!! Happily, were starting to see a significant drop in Claires white blood cell count. A PICC line was successfully inserted yesterday which now allows for the safe and efficient delivery of powerful IV meds over the long haul. AND Claire has been stepped-down from the PICU. Overall, a big day for a little girl - all in the right direction. Claire hears everything! She has asked some amazing questions of her doctors & nurses; expressed her wishes, feelings, & fears; coped with significant and immobileizing pain - all in her quiet & composed way. In other words, Mama & Daddy and all who love Claire find themselves in awe of their big little girl. CT scans will eventually show the formation of an abscess. Sounds negative, but this is the bodys way of collecting the poison contained in the body within a membranous wall; then, a first surgery will be performed to drain the poison from her body. This has not happened yet, so we wait. Grateful; so grateful. Please, please, continue to keep Claire in your thoughts and prayers as this sweet little girl beings to take positive steps down the road ahead. That all may continue moving in the right direction; that known and unknown complications are kept at bay. Deep and overwhelming gratitude for the powerful amount of prayer, the great strength of warm healing thoughts, the faithful love and support which has been graciously and generously expressed by friends, family, and strangers both near and far. For it is the love of good people and the love of the Lord that is sustaining and strengthening Claire, my sister & brother-in-law, and my nephew through very rough waters and dark days. Thank you.
