Wondering what Xmas present to get for the rockosaur who has - TopicsExpress

Wondering what Xmas present to get for the rockosaur who has everything? If you’ve got deep pockets, this could be just the gift. The big-lipped London School of Economics student Sir Mick Jagger & his band mates have teamed up with TASCHEN Books to issue the official definitive photographic collection of the Rolling Stones, key images from their half century plus odyssey, just in time for the holiday season. TASCHEN’s top notch production quality will surely surpass that of the 2009 live recording “Still Life”, but it won’t be a “Beggar’s Banquet” either. The price tag will be as stunning as the photographs by the likes of David Bailey, Gered Makowitz, Guy Webster, Ethan Russell, etc., with the 75 copies of the “Art Edition” signed by Sir Mick, Charlie, Ronnie and Keith available at US$15,000 (that’s £10,500 or €12,000), and the remaining 1525 copies priced at $5000 to £150. Hey, what else would we expect from The World’s Greatest Rock and Roll Brand? The Stones have been marketing pioneers for a much longer time than they were musical pioneers: some of the first big arena and stadium tours; the first tour with a corporate sponsor; some of the first and largest Pay-Per-View events; and, numerous “commemorative” re-issues of their catalog beefed up with “added value” reproductions of memorabilia, home movies, etc. at an added price. If you buy this, please let me come over one evening to look it over. You would be doing the charitable thing. I’ll bet there is more to come, however. Sir Mick, at last count, is down to his last $305M, but I am sure he has a wealth of ideas for future marketing campaigns.
