Wont somebody think of the children! Ok, how bout this: #1 The Cats of Tanglewood Forest. A magical YA adventure by Charles De Lint and illustrated by Charles Vess. A young girl learns about the magical side of the forest near her home after she is transfomed into a kitten. #2 The Book with no Pictures. B J Novaks new book for young readers is indeed completely free of pictures. It is chock full of read-along fun though. #3 The Dragons of Crumbling Castle. This is some of Terry Pratchetts first fiction and you can see the early stages of ideas that would captivate millions. Beautifully illustrated and perfect for a pre-teen reader. #4 The Ice Dragon. A story about Dragons, courage, friendship, sacrifice and hope. While this takes the form of a fairytale from the world of the Song of Ice and Fire the story works perfectly well on its own and is suitable for younger readers.
