Woo! Sunny day! Hey, sometimes there are very interesting events in Hobart but theyre pretty hard to find out about, or you get the feeling you shouldnt be going/wouldnt be welcome. I get myself on every mailing list of anything I find remotely interesting. Im happy to share events I find, whether Im going along or not. Ill try to tell you how to register but please be willing to persevere and email the organisers yourself. Usually they want people to come along, theyre just not great at promoting an event. Interested in good housing? Me too! No wonder we get along so well. If you want us to have houses and complexes that are built for actual human beings – which are warm when they should be and cool when they should be, and are affordable and pleasant places to live – consider coming along to this talk by architect Dr Paul Downton. It really excited me. I found myself wondering how we can do that kind of thing in Hobart – band together with other people to make our own development. To make the kinds of places in which wed like to live. Not taking what we can get – choosing! Acting! You and I could be developers. Higher-density housing doesnt have to be expensive or uncomfortable.
