Woo hoo! GREENSBURG, Ind.—Indiana Department of Transportation officials met with contractor representatives today at a pre-construction meeting at INDOT Seymour District offices to discuss development of a 1.6-mile-long multi-use path that begins at Rebekah Park and proceeds north to Montgomery Road. Construction of the Local Public Agency (LPA) project is sponsored by Decatur County. McAlister Excavating Company of Patriot is the prime contractor for the bike/pedestrian pathway. It’s $672,597 bid—the lowest of seven submitted—was approved by INDOT last month. Some clearing for the project route will be done this winter. WSWConstruction is expected to begin in the spring or early summer. The Federal Highway Administration pays for 80 percent of the LPA project. Decatur County, the local sponsor, is responsible for 20 percent of the cost. INDOT makes awards and administers FHWA funds.
