Woodstown High School Bulletin for Wednesday January 14, 2015 “Celebrating 100 Years of Pride, Tradition, & Excellence; Once a Wolverine, Always a Wolverine” WHS Mock Trial: Congratulations to the Mock Trial team for winning all 3 of their trials tonight and becoming Salem County Champions for the second year in a row! They will now move on to represent Salem County in the Regional competition held on February 4th at the New Jersey Law Center in New Brunswick. If you see any members, please congratulate them! Dave Lewis, former Woodstown Middle School Teacher and graduate of Woodstown High School, will be inducted into the South Jersey Coaches Association 2015 Hall of Fame. Dave has coached football, boy’s basketball, girl’s basketball and softball at Woodstown High School for more than 80 seasons. Currently, Dave is a volunteer coach for the girl’s basketball team. We are overjoyed to have placed first and we know that there is no way that we would have been successful without each and every one of you. We are so grateful to live in such a supportive community that takes our program just as seriously as we do ourselves. Please make sure that you use the appropriate HS hallways at all times during the school day. Those students caught using the middle school hallways will be disciplined. WHS Key Club Survival Kits: WHS Key Club will be selling midterm exam survival kits this year. These are gift bags will be filled with healthy snacks and school supplies to help students get through those long nights of studying. If you are interested in purchasing a survival kit for your mentee or just a special student who you think needs a little extra encouragement, please feel free to print, fill out and return the order form with payment to Mrs. Williams before Jan 20th. The order form can be found on the Woodstown High School web page located under the Wolverine News section. WHS Teacher & ESP of the Year/ 2015-2016: Woodstown High School’s Teacher of the Year is Ms. Melissa Cifaloglio, and our Educational Services Professional of the Year is Mrs. Gabrielle Heyel! They have worked hard to earn this distinction and we all share in their joy as they celebrate this very special accomplishment. Both Ms. Cifaloglio and Mrs. Heyel were nominated and selected by a group of their peers, which makes this distinction even more important because it recognizes the great job that they do on a daily basis. The official recognition will be at the February Faculty meeting, but please offer them your congratulations on this well deserved honor when you see them. WHS Talent Show: WHS Renaissance is teaming up with the WHS Tri-M National Music Honor Society to put together the WHS Talent Show. Our talent show this year will be held on Thursday, Jan. 15th beginning at 7:00 pm. Renaissance is a positive recognition program that rewards students and staff for their positive behaviors and contributions to WHS. The money generated from this years talent show will be used to support the numerous positive programs that Renaissance supports like our Gold Slip Ice Cream Socials, Teacher Appreciation Week activities, People’s Choice Awards, as well as our Hero’s Breakfast to name just a few. This will be our 10th Annual Talent Show and we encourage everyone to come out and cheer for their favorite act/performance. Prizes will be awarded to our first, second, and third place finishers. Tickets will be sold in the lunchroom at a cost of $5.00 during the week of Jan. 12th and will also be available at the door. It is going to be a great night, so mark your calendar and don’t miss this exciting yearly tradition! Tickets are $5.00. Congratulations! Leah Cabo has been selected from an initial pool of 102,600+ applicants as a Semifinalist in the Coca-Cola Scholars Program! Leah will now continue through the selection process with an opportunity to receive a $20,000 scholarship. WHS Class of 2015: : The annual senior lock-in will take place on Friday, January 23rd in the gym from 8pm-7am. Cost is $10 and tickets will be sold the week of January 19th during lunch periods. Please be advised, students wishing to leave before midnight will require a parent signature on the back of the ticket. Anyone who stays past midnight will be locked in until 7am. Games, music, and lots of food will be provided. See a project graduation advisor with any questions WHS Project Graduation Sweetheart Bingo: Save the date! Project Graduation is hosting a Sweetheart Bingo featuring bags from your favorite designers such as Michael Kors, Coach, Dooney & Bourke, and Vera Bradley. The event is being held Friday, February 6 in the WHS gymnasium. Doors open at 6:30, games begin promptly at 7. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased from one of the PG advisors: Meghan Taylor, Janie Coleman, and Nikole Vogel. Email [email protected] for more information or to purchase tickets. WHS Scrapbooking Fundraiser: The WHS Softball Team is hosting a Crop Till You Drop Scrapbooking Fundraiser on Saturday, February 21, 2015, 8AM-8PM. Bring your personal photos and scrapbooking the supplies and we will provide the space, food, and fun! The day will include breakfast, lunch, a hot dinner, and snacks. Vendors, contests, prizes and a massage therapist (additional cost) will be there too!
