Woody Guthrie Folk Festival (Official) Its a different animal. I love the WF so much so that, even though I did not have an official performance slot of any kind, I drove 11 hours North from Devine,TX. to be there. I usually play at what was known as The Brick, but alas they closed that down, so many of us, not just me, were left without a performance space or slot, but I believe that this festival is MORE important than a performance slot. I needed to be there. As it turned out, I played the whole festival. In no particular order here are the artist that allowed me the privilege of playing guitar with them on either the Pasture of Plenty Stage or The Crystal Theater stage: Butch Hancock, Nancy Apple, Grant Peeples, The Red Dirt Rangers, Jimmy LaFave, Ronnie Elliott, Ezra C Idlet, Joel Rafael, John T. Fullbright, Susan Herndon, Don Conoscenti Thank you all very much, I enjoyed playing on your wonderful songs. I absolutely LOVE playing with the house band lead by the great Maestro and guitarist, Terry Ware, with Terry playing guitar, they need another guitar player like they need a hole in the head, but they allow me to set up my little rig and dive in. The Pocket of Danger, Don Morris(bass)Tz Wright (keyboards) and Michael McCarty (drums) are so much fun to play with. Special shout out to the cooks at the Pastures of Plenty Stage, awesome food every evening. Delicious actually, and thanks to ALL the volunteers who give, give, give of themselves so that the Festival can be a success each year. To Deana Stafford McCloud, Bill McCloud, Michael Nave, Randy Norman thank you for taking care of all the details, and ram rodding this wonderful event. THANK YOU ALL and see you next year!
