Word of wisdoms: haze Singapore govt pointing indonesia for the haze but are singapore govt willing to pay huge amount of money to indonesia for fetilizer and cutting down the trees for thier crop cycle? Why? Let me tell you why. Indonesian farmers are doing the hash and burn methods. It has been done way before our great grandfather time as its the most ancient method of farming. 1st) they will burn the trees and let it be. This will make the land naturally fertile. 2nd) after a period of time, in 2months to 3months, the land will be fertile as the burn crops will become the fertilizer. 3rd) they will farm duration of 1year to 3years and will let the area become "forest" again as the land become less fertile. they will find another area and burn it again same as 1st process. 4th) they will comeback to the 1st area after period of more than 5-10years. And the cyle goes on to the 2nd area and so on. This is the one of the cheapest and very effiecient for the farmers to make land very fertile. As i travel around singapore yesterday i do notice in our singapore land has also contribute to the haze as the coming of hungry ghost festivals but as its in under religion matters, i shall not touch it as i respect other religion.
