Words & Thoughts Reminder: This Monday (27th Oct) Words & Thoughts will meet at the University Club from about Noon after the session at 11 a.m. in Arts G01 with Laurie Steed who will be leading a relaxed W&T session to discuss experiences and pros and cons of using social media such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, and digital publishing resources such as Singles on Amazon, Tomely, personal web sites, blogging, Medium, etc. to encourage the sharing of experiences with social media and creative writing. This session also will be of interest to fellow researchers outside the field of creative writing as the methods Laurie uses can serve anyone seeking to socialize their research, to network and to engage by utilizing digital opportunities. All are welcome. Bio: Laurie Steed is an author of award-winning literary fiction from Perth, Western Australia. His stories have appeared on BBC Radio 4 and in Best Australian Stories, Award Winning Australian Writing, The Age, Meanjin, Westerly, Island, The Sleepers Almanac and elsewhere. He won the 2012 Patricia Hackett Prize for Fiction and is the recipient of fellowships and residencies from The University of Iowa, Rosebank, Varuna, The Katharine Susanah Prichard Writers Centre and The Fellowship of Writers (WA). In April 2014, he became the first Australian writer to be granted fellowship in the history of the Sozopol Fiction Seminars.
