Words are important to me: its how I make my living really. So when I read in the news that NPYD Commissioner Bratton said the officers killed or murdered in Brooklyn yesterday were assassinated, I cant help but wonder if we should be reserving that word for fallen political leaders only. Isaac Stern once made a similar request when he performed in Turkey, and an Armenian reporter asked him during a press conference if he believed what that community endured in the early 20th century was in fact a holocaust. Stern looked directly at the reporter and said that history called it a genocide and that he not taint what happened to his people and compare the two. He was, of course, referring to the Jewish holocaust. Anywho, I guess I was just reminded of a sketch by Chris Rock when he addressed this very question with Tupac and Biggie.
