Words of Encouragement Scripture: Isaiah 27: 2-6 - TopicsExpress

Words of Encouragement Scripture: Isaiah 27: 2-6 2. In that day, A vineyard of wine, sing of it! 3. I, the Lord, am its Keeper; I water it every moment. So that no one will damage it, I guard it night and day. 4. I have no wrath. Should someone give Me briars and thorns in battle, then I would step on them, I would burn them completely. 5. Or let him rely on My protection, let him make peace with Me, let him make peace with Me. 6. In the days to come Jacob will take root, Israel will blossom and sprout, and they will fill the whole world with fruit. Look closely at verse 5. From Our Daily Homily by F.B. Meyer [words in brackets not found in the original text, but added by me] Such are the alternatives. You must either resist Gods strength, or take hold of it. If the former, it is as though thorns and briars should fight flame. There is no fury in God; He has no desire for the death of the ungodly, but that he should turn from his unrighteousness and live. Yet if the blinded soul persists in flinging itself into collision with Him, it must suffer finally and irretrievably. But notice the double invitation, [let him rely on My protection, let him make peace with Me]. Where shall I find His strength?, the sinner asks. In the mighty mountains girded with strength; in the arch of the sky; in the break of the ocean wave? No, not in these; but where that dying man pours out his soul to death, and is numbered with the transgressors. But surely there is the weakness of God, not the strength! No, but it is the strength. The weakness of God is stronger than men. [But we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block, and to Gentiles foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. (1 Corinthians 1:23,24)]. Come here, soul of man, the strength of God is in that pierced, transfixed hand. Take hold of it, it will lift you. In Him God is reconciled; there is nothing to do but take the offered mercy, accept His reconciliation, and be at peace. God reaches out His hand; take hold of it. God draws near; draw near to Him. Then He will keep you, whatever be your foes or temptation; His protecting strength will interpose between them and you. He will keep you night and day (verse 3). Peace, perfect peace, in this dark world of sin? The blood of Jesus whispers peace within. So, be encouraged, my friend! P.S. Here is a mix of hymns of the Church: Missions and Evangelism: So Send I You. My prayer for you is that if you know Jesus Christ as your Savior, that you will take the words of these hymns to heart and take the message of salvation to a world lost in sin.
