Words of Encouragement vs Discouragement: I remember being 19 years old, a college drop out with no clear prospects for my future. While trying to apply to a new college, a staff member from my old high school questioned why I was having such difficulty. In her words, Why was I moving around from college to college? Why did I continue to call the school asking for my high school transcript? She said I should make a decision and stick to it. At a time when my self esteem was at its lowest, I remember feeling crushed, feeling like there was something wrong with me. I will never forget that phone call. Fast forward a few years, while working with individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury, the nurse at the group home there always spoke to me about her job, about what it meant to be a nurse, praised my medication administration skills and said one thing that I believe changed my life, I believe you can be a great nurse someday. I wasnt in school, I was a single mom, no prospects for my future. She saw in me what I couldnt see in myself...Today, I am a nurse at a group home...Choose encouraging words always! Happy Saturday:)
