Words of the Buddha (English – Thai) ***** The Result of a Good Man’s Gifts ***** “And in giving a gift in faith, wheresoever the full result of that gift ripes, there comes wealth, riches and great property, and he is fair to look upon, handsome, with the wondrous beauty of the lotus.” “And in giving a gift with deference wheresoever the full result of that gift ripes, there comes wealth, riches and great property and his’ children and wife his slaves, messengers and work-folk hearken diligently unto him, lend ear and serve him with understanding heart.” “And in giving a gift in time, wheresoever the full result of that gift ripes, there comes wealth, riches and great property and the goods that come to him in time are abundant.” “And in giving a gift with unconstrained heart, wheresoever the full result of that gift ripes, there comes wealth, riches and great property and he bends the mind to enjoy the fulness of the fi vefold joy of the senses.” “And in giving a gift without hurt to self or others, wheresoever the full result of that gift ripens, there comes wealth, riches and great property, and never from anywhere comes hurt to his property either from fi re or water, rajahs or thieves or impious heirs.” “Verily, monks, these are the fi ve gifts of a good man.” ***** The Pali Text Society, Oxford, 2008, p.130. ***** คำสอนของพระศาสดา ***** ผลของให้ทานแบบต่างๆ ภิกษุทั้งหลาย ! สัตบุรุษ (๑) ครั้นให้ทานด้วยศรัทธาแล้ว ย่อมเป็น ผู้มั่งคั่ง มีทรัพย์มาก มีโภคทรัพย์มาก และเป็นผู้มีรูปสวยงาม น่าดูน่าเลื่อมใส ประกอบด้วยผิวพรรณงามยิ่งนัก ในที่ที่ทานนั้นให้ผล. (๒) ครั้นให้ทานโดยเคารพแล้ว ย่อมเป็น ผู้มั่งคั่ง มีทรัพย์มาก มีโภคทรัพย์มาก และเป็นผู้มีบุตรภรรยา ทาส คนใช้หรือคนงาน เป็นผู้เชื่อฟัง เงี่ยโสตลงสดับคำสั่ง ตั้งใจใคร่รู้ ในที่ที่ทานนั้นให้ผล. (๓) ครั้นให้ทานโดยกาลอันควรแล้ว ย่อมเป็น ผู้มั่งคั่ง มีทรัพย์มาก มีโภคทรัพย์มาก และย่อมเป็นผู้มีความต้องการที่เกิดขึ้นตามกาล บริบูรณ์ ในที่ที่ทานนั้นให้ผล. (๔) ครั้นเป็นผู้มีจิตอนุเคราะห์ให้ทานแล้ว ย่อมเป็นผู้มั่งคั่ง มีทรัพย์มาก มีโภคทรัพย์มาก และเป็นผู้มีจิตน้อมไปเพื่อบริโภคกามคุณ ๕ สูงยิ่งขึ้น ในที่ที่ทานนั้นให้ผล. (๕) ครั้นให้ทานไม่กระทบตนและไม่กระทบ ผู้อื่นแล้ว ย่อมเป็นผู้มั่งคั่ง มีทรัพย์มาก มีโภคทรัพย์มาก และย่อมเป็นผู้มีโภคทรัพย์ไม่มีภยันตรายมาแต่ ที่ไหนๆ คือ จากไฟ จากน้ำ จากพระราชา จากโจร จากคนไม่เป็นที่รัก หรือจากทายาท ในที่ที่ทานนั้นให้ผล. ภิกษุทั้งหลาย ! นี้แลสัปปุริสทาน ๕ ประการ. ***** ปญฺจก. อํ. ๒๒/๑๙๒/๑๔๘.
