Work has commenced on the Kirk 2 BIL; so far Ive partially fitted new buffers from Roxey Mouldings (the ones with thin square shanks found on certain members of the class) and these await priming. Ive also replaced a missing truss rod on the trailer coach that must have got damaged before Colin gave me the unit. Today I started work on the Roxey Mouldings etched brass 8 9 trailing bogie for the trailer car and the photos below show the etches after Id punched out the pre etched rivet holes. I used a home made punch made from a small panel pin that Id filed and wet and dried to a suitable shape. The next stage is to solder the fold up axle boxes, etc, to the main frames. The bogie kit is a bit basic and will benefit from some extra detailing. White metal axle boxes, collector shoe beams and fuse boxes are included in the kit.
