Work has commenced on the tender frame at the VGR in preparation of a full examination report of the unit. The weekend has seen us remove a lot of dirt, moss and grease from all over the unit and bogies. While clearing, we found some writing in the middle of the frames, which happens to be upside down. We have flipped the photo we took of it to reveal that it says Melbourne and the number 10 visible too. Perhaps this shows the age of the frame. We know it is a 1st series VR frame, as the square holes for the drag chains are still clearly visible, albeit welded up. We will continue further work on the tender next weekend.
