Work on the biggest Cook Islands’ infrastructure project, ‘Te Mato Vai’ started today from the junction in Avatiu heading towards Nikao. The project team, which consists of the Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, a number of local labourers and a New Zealand based project Management team will be working on 200 meters of road at a time, to place two ring mains right around the island; on the main road and the back road. It is understood that this is the biggest ever infrastructure project being undertaken here and will take 30 months to complete.
