Work zone planned on I-24 Ohio River bridge Staff report The Illinois Department of Transportation plans to restrict traffic to one lane on the Interstate 24 Ohio River bridge starting Wednesday. This work zone will include some brief traffic stoppages between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. Thursday. The agency will be doing maintenance work on the bridge, which will require one lane traffic starting at 7 a.m. Wednesday. This work zone will also facilitate placement of a crane in the median on the Illinois end of the bridge at mile 38.6. Starting about 1 a.m. Thursday, Illinois State Police will utilize rolling road blocks with traffic stoppages of about 10 to 15 minutes each to allow an overhead signboard to be moved. Illinois State Police will slow westbound traffic starting about the 3 mile marker in Kentucky and will slow eastbound traffic starting around the 37 mile marker in Illinois. Motorists should use appropriate caution where equipment, flaggers, and personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.
