Worked a double yesterday that turned out fairly decent for how slow it was. Decided not to take a break and work straight through, Doubles make me grouchy. Anyway, I took care of a couple from New Jersey that visit 5-6 times year. (Aruba was the first place they ate when they visited Ft. Lauderdale years back.) I greeted them with a smile and the regular waitress spiel and the first thing they said was, Wow, Jessica Biel (said I looked like her) yours is the first smile weve seen down here all day. Even your hostess was rude. All I could really do is apologize for her rudeness and get them their drinks. We spoke about where they were from, the weather, all that nice chit chat. (They were married for 35 years, which is beautiful, and were still very much in love)Their bill totaled 57.78 he handed me 100 and said, Lets just call it even, yes? Of course being as nice as I am I didnt just take it, I offered to get them change but they refused. His wife then told me, All we needed was a smile and a pretty face. Dont lose that personality its rare. Well be asking for you again, see you soon Jessica Biel! The point in this story? BE NICE TO PEOPLE DAMMIT. DONT JUST HEAR, LISTEN. If you really dont care about other people, I feel sorry for you. I love hearing peoples stories if theyre willing to tell them. Living life with a negative attitude is unhealthy. Good vibes.
