Working for a leading British manufacturer of material handling equipment, they are now seeking a strong, innovative Production Planner. You will need to have previous hands-on production planning experience from ideally within a metals biased environment with an appreciation of lean principles. Commutable from: Droitwich, Birmingham, Worcester, Halesowen, Kidderminster, Stourbridge Salary: £ 25,000 - £ 30,000 p.a. + Benefits Suitable for: Production Planners, Material Planners, Production Schedulers, Logistic Coordinators, Expeditor, Planning Supervisor The Role Responsible to act as a planner, production controller and expeditor within their busy manufacturing site along-side the operations and production management teams, to ensure schedule adherence to the Master Production Schedules and customer delivery requirements. The senior management team are ideally looking for an individual with a fresh set of eyes to offer improvements / suggestions within the production planning process. Key areas of responsibility will include ensuring that suppliers are scheduled appropriately, that production is well scheduled to meet customer demands and that the raw material stocks are kept to a minimum. Your responsibility will include control of yearly, weekly and daily production plans, being mindful that you are managing the stock levels correctly. The Person You will be an experienced Production Planner / Scheduler and have experience working within a specialist manufacturing environment, ideally with exposure to metal works, fabrication, sheet metal, welding or specialist assembly. You will have a good engineering grasp and will be able to read engineering drawings You will have an understanding of ISO9000 and experience in operating in a lean environment with previous use of any of the following: SMED, Value Stream Mapping, Five S (5S), Kanban (pull systems), poka-yoke (error-proofing), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Experience of continuous improvement (kaizen) would be also advantageous. Candidates should possess a reasonable educational background (ideally HNC level or equivalent) along with circa 10 years experience in a similar capacity.
