Working on my 2nd book of poems, heres a sample. Need a title...: Reality is a series of illusions Isn’t it? Lies bred truth and we have no choice but to believe it For 7 years they put on their faces to greet mine For 7 years Restylane pumped their smiles Their ‘howie dos’ meant ‘just disappear’ And for 7 years I existed unawared When we work together, it was almost all good And we laughed together until whispers of their secrets stank up the room The stink would clear and things would go back to the same They would smile at me and it reciprocated And I should have known better than to trust friends who discussed aloud Their friends’ business Is something that they were always pleased in doing They tell me it is life, get with the times But what’s life if your mouth can’t protect the people who are closest? Integrity is my teacher So I called them out Behind their ghosts, they preached and grinned Credited their smiles and debited myself If they’re as tangible as they say Then I am the misinterpretation of a true sensation THEN the day came when I had to leave On that day before I went through the gate They took off their smiley faces and replaced it with a vision of hate I followed my heart and smiled at their hate faces as I went through.
