Workshop 2 In todays society there are many social issues and it seems that only more are being created day by day. One that catches my eye the most is religion. It seems to me that a lot of people growing up are taken to church by their parents or families. I remember when I was a kid and every Sunday my whole family was in church and most of the time we made it to service on Wednesday nights too. We were able to go out in public and it was very easy to hold a conversation with someone about their religion and sure the beliefs may have been different but for the most part they were the same. Today talking about religion is near impossible and many people will actually turn away when they can see the that the conversation is heading that way. The one religious issue that gets to me the most is how professional athletes are getting fined for expressing their faith on the field. Yes I understand that it may be disrespectful to some or maybe even millions, but its one persons belief and Im almost positive that we are granted the right of freedom of religion! Which means we can worship whoever we choose or practice whatever religion we choose! How they able to take that away from these athletes who have the same rights as we do? The other part which bothers me is the fact that one athlete who always expressed his faith on the field and before games was actually more or less said to be a role model! Then another athlete who shows his faith is put on blast because he doesnt worship the same god? How is that even close to being fair, how can we show children this athlete and say this is okay and then turn and show them the other when essentially both athletes are doing the same thing except one will be punished or fined. In the end now I bile be that no athlete is able to show or express their faith while on the field or during a game. Its just sad to see that this only came to be an issue when one athlete showed his faith to the wrong god or at least in societys eyes it was the wrong god. youtu.be/AGkDAnmynEM
