Workshop to solve the lionfish issue Experts discussed the growing problem of lionfish, and more importantly, what we can do to contain this aquatic nuisance. The Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) are touring British overseas territories to look at the issue of lionfish, before reporting their findings back to the Department of Environment in the United Kingdom. “The Cayman government has been very active in actually developing a whole culling strategy, engaging with dive operators, which is quite impressive actually, and they have just started an economic study on the impact of the tourism industry that lionfish could have,” said Samia Sarkis of the JNCC. Other countries taking part in the workshops include Anguilla, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Montserrat and Turks and Caicos. cayman27.ky/2013/07/03/workshop-to-solve-the-lionfish-issue
