World Alzheimer Month Awareness Programme 2014 and Construction work of Dementia Service and Information Center begins in Thakurgaon. With a view to give care and informations to the Alzheimer patients Alzheimer Society of Bangladesh (ASB) began the construction work of Dementia Service and Information Center on Tuesday at Deogaon village under Salandar Unionof Thakurgaon sadar upazila. The construction work was inaugurated by Chief Patron, Dementia Service and Information Center, Alzheimer Society of Bangladesh and Ambassador, Alzheimer’s Disease International Frank J Schaper. On the occasion ASB arranged meetings at Thakurgaon Boys High School Multipurpose Hall and Deogaon village. Presided over by ASB President Jalaluddin the meeting was addressed by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Gen.) Manjur Alam Pradhan as chief guest while Frank J Schaper, acting Civil Surgeon Dr. Abu Md. Khairul Kabir, Salandar Union Chairman Fazle Elahi Mukut Chowdhury and Head of Dementia of Sir William Beveridge Foundation (SWBF) Rashed Shohrawardy as special guests. Others spoke were Medical Advisor of ASB Dr. Nurul Huda, ASB vice president Yakub Ali, Advisor Hafea Rashid Alam, members Nurul Ialam, Masud Ahmed Suborno, acting headmaster Boys High School Abu Taher Jamal, female UP member of Salandar UP Bhakti Rani and an inhabitant of Salandar Union Mahbub Alam. The welcome address was delivered by ASB vice president Syed Merajul Hossain. The meeting was moderated by ASB general secretary Azizul Haque. The chief guest Manjur Alam pradhan said that the Dementia Service and Information Center consturcting here at Deogaon is a exceptional initiative. The administration is very proud to be associated with this project. The co-operation of the district administration will always be with this project. Frank Schaper addressing the students and the Deogaon villagers said that he is firm to be with this project. The basis of his faith is the students and the people of the area. He furthe said that the the students gave him word to be with this project. He urged the villagers to be associated with this project.
