World Cup 2014 Parvez not included in Team India, coach says he is born in ‘wrong state’ Sameer Showkin Lone/The Kashmir Monitor SRINAGAR: With States star cricketer Parvez Rasool failing to make the cut in the 15-member world cup squad, his coach believes that the cricketer was dropped because “he was born in a wrong state like Jammu and Kashmir”. “Had Rasool been from any other state, he would have been selected”, Abdul Qayoom , adding that Kashmiris are always tagged and treated differently when it comes to Indian cricket. I am myself part of the same fate. We are born in wrong state. Rasool performed very well in the recent matches, still he has been dropped. What kind of performance the selectors want so that they get impressed by Rasool’s performance,” Qayoom says. When asked what could be the technical reasons that failed Parvez,Qayoom said, “I was talking to some official. He told me Rasool was counted as a bowler, but his bowling performance has not been up to the mark this year. If he does good bating that is a bonus, but he is actually a bowler,” Qayoom said and added Rasool was still better than some of the players who have been selected. The coach said he had himself met the same fate, when he was playing cricket. “yesterday Rasool met the same treatment because he is also from Kashmir like me,” . Board of Cricket Control for India (BCCI) on Tuesday announced the 15-member world cup squad in which the Kashmir’s Parvez Rasool did not figure despite an impressive performance in the recent Ranji matches. Senior Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) member, Manzoor Wazir said, “We were expecting that Rasool will be part of the world cup. We would have loved to see him. It is very sad. We feel very sorry that he has been dropped,” he told Kashmir Monitor. Valley cricketers and Rasool’s fans are also sad over his dropping out from the squad. “It is very disappointing that he has been dropped. He should have been given the chance as he has proved very well especially this year. I don’t know on what basis Rasool has been dropped out,” said Bilal Yousuf, a cricketer.
