World Cup winning Zircotec sponsored driver Tom Harris takes his F1 Stock Car into action at Coventry Motor Speedway on Sat night (7th Sept). Fresh from retaining his World Cup crown at Venray in Holland a couple of Weeks ago, Tom Harris brings his ‘fire breathing’ F1 stock car to the Coventry Motor Speedway this weekend. The race action starts at 7pm tomorrow 7th September as the fight to be declared the BriSCA UK Points Champion continues. Zircotec will be there soaking up the atmosphere and hopefully cheering Tom on to victory. As they go into the second race meeting of the Shootout phase Tom is currently the highest graded driver in BriSCA with 172 points more than his nearest rival. These points do not decide the championship but instead determine the starting grid position for each race. In the reverse of most other forms of motorsports the highest graded drivers are placed the furthest back and have to fight their way through the field to the front. This makes for incredibly exciting racing as no-one can ever just run away from the pack in the best car, they have to fight for their win every race. Tom’s success means he is almost always starting from the back of the grid with a three-quarter lap handicap. The twelve drivers leading the points table at the end of July have all gone forward into the Shootout phase which is what decides who will be this year’s champion. After the first round Tom is sitting on 89 points and leads by 12 points from second placed Matt Newsome. Lee Fairhurst is a further six points back in third. The rest of the field are all bunched up behind with only a couple of points separating the next few drivers.
