French recover port of Steinbach (Alsace). Eastern Front Poland and Galicia: Austro-German retreat. Hungary: Once more raided over the Passes. Southern Front Serbia: Preparations to meet new Austrian invasion. Asiatic and Egyptian Theatres Egypt: Preparations to meet expected Turkish attack complete. I thought I would add a comment today concerning the number of losses and casualties for 1914. this actually proved quite hard to do....but heres my best estimate... British: officers killed wounded or missing - 5092, other ranks 111,658 total 116,750. German: killed 171,575 wounded 118,740 missing 557,150 total 847,465 French: Killed 300,000 Wounded 750,000 Belgian: Killed 8000 Wounded 23,262
