World leaders should tackle religious intolerance by promoting discussion in religious groups by ensuring that moderate political leaders are involved in talks. Freedom of religion is the mother of all human rights. Every religion is foreign to those who do not accept its principles. Allowing religious diversity makes for freedom and tolerance. The resurgence of religious intolerance poses a threat to liberal societies which are based on ideas of liberty and equality. Every path to God is a personal experience, a private journey. No path is superior, as all paths to God are valid and useful. The challenge facing political and religious leaders is to contemplate, with hearts filled with the spirit of compassion and the desire for truth, the plight of humanity.
