World no. 1 and top seed Rafa Nadal advanced to Fridays quarterfinals of the Italian Open with a 6-7 (4), 6-2, 6-1 victory over 14th-seeded Mikhail Youzhny of Russia on Thursday at the Foro Italico. Nadal improved his career record against Youzhny to 10-5 during todays round of 16 match which lasted 2 hours 44 minutes. The seven-time Italian Open champ Nadal has a 16-2 record on clay this year. Next for Nadal is a quarterfinal showdown with No. 7 Andy Murray (time to be determined).
