World of Warcraft: I just completed my warlock green fire quest - TopicsExpress

World of Warcraft: I just completed my warlock green fire quest by defeating Kanrethad Ebonlocke. For the (most) of you who have no idea what that is, its one of the few PVE (player versus environment) things in the game that is a truly difficult solo skill check. Green fire is something that warlock players have wanted as flavor for a long time. At least since Burning Crusade (2007). Blizzard finally gave us a cool quest line to complete with a very complicated boss fight at the end, and if you can do it you get green fire! Now not only is the green fire awesome and character appropriate, it indicates your L33T SK1173! Ive spent a couple dedicated days on it, not because its grindy like most things in WoW, but because its f*ing hard. There are a lot of mechanics balls to keep in the air, and you have to do them all yourself. If you drop any of them you will either die outright or start to get very behind and probably not recover. Ive implemented lots of custom UI elements, macros, and keybindings, changed glyphs, and changed talents. Indeed, now I must restore my UI to normal. I might keep the spec though; it feels good. Im not sure what my total number of wipes was, but somewhere in the vicinity of a dozen? I was prepared for way more; reports of 30+ were common. Id just bought 3 hours worth of flasks and food and potions for this mornings attempts, and then downed him in the final strategy-solidifying test run before even using any of that stuff. (Or my soulstone!) The guy that sold me the book that starts the quest line got his 3 months ago and STILL hasnt finished it. Like most of the frustrated locks out there, he dies at the fel hunters. I am pleased. And I have green fire now, which makes me a Real Warlock. Or something. I miss the days of questing for the dread steed and so on. Class quests are fun. Blizz should bring more of that back. (Im at ilvl 520, Destruction. You could do it at less than that for sure. I killed him before the second wave of fel hunters. Gear makes everything better but this is not a gear check.)
