Worldwide Racing Community Celebrates Inaugural BMW Motorrad Race Trophy #BMW #RaceTrophy #Finale #BMWMotorsport #LanceIsaacs On the evening of Saturday 22 November, BMW Motorsport riders from across the globe were welcomed to the prestigious BMW Pavillon in the heart of Munich to celebrate the first ever BMW Motorrad Motorsport season finale. Some had travelled from as far away as South Africa and Canada to join their fellow S 1000 RR and HP4 racers for an evening dedicated to showcasing the best international talent competing in the innovative and unique BMW Motorrad Race Trophy, a world championship for BMW racers. The inaugural BMW Motorrad Race Trophy saw participants from all the continents compete in this competition dedicated to the worldwide community of teams, riders and customers who put their faith in racing the RR and HP4 sports bikes. It is the only international competition with its own classification for privateer riders. The 69 riders who entered in 2014, the top 20 finishers were invited to this special gala dinner and prize giving ceremony. Hosted by Sky Sport News HD presenter Viola Weiss, guests were welcomed by BMW Motorrad Vice President Sales and Marketing Heiner Faust, Head of BMW Motorrad Marketing Dr. Ralf Rodepeter, BMW Motorrad Motorsport Technical Director Berti Hauser and BMW Motorrad Motorsport Marketing Director Udo Mark, all of whom spoke of their immense pride that this pioneering Motorsport initiative had been such a success. As Heiner Faust put it: Tonight is all about celebrating the BMW Motorrad riders for their great results in their respective championships and in the BMW Motorrad Race Trophy. BMW racing customers are the perfect ambassadors for our brand and with their commitment, they made it possible to create the biggest worldwide racing community in motorcycling. They fly the flag for BMW Motorrad all around the globe and I want to take the opportunity to thank all of them. Over the course of the evening, the top 20 riders all went up onto the stage in recognition of their racing achievements throughout the year, while the top 15 received Trophies and prize money from the generous 100,000 euros fund. Among the many racers who received special mentions were top three finishers Reiterberger Markus (DE), Emilien Jaillet - Page Pilote (FR) and Marco Nekvasil Fanpage (AT), as well as fast female Lucy Glöckner for comprehensively beating all the boys with her recent IDM Superstock double victory in Zolder. Looking to the future, Dr. Ralf Rodepeter then announced some exciting details of how the BMW Motorrad Race Trophy will expand in 2015 with more championships included, extra prize money and a new award specifically for teams. On more than 80 racetracks all over the world, we will see up to 270 races in which BMW Motorrad Race Trophy participants can take part. Furthermore, in addition to the prize money given to the top riders, each BMW Motorrad Race Trophy participant who wins a championship will receive an additional title award of 2,500 euros. And last, but not least, to honour the hard work of the teams behind the riders, next season we will introduce a new team award, where every team that wins a championship will receive prize money of 7,500 euros. With these improvements, we are sure the BMW Motorrad Race Trophy will be even more attractive for riders and teams. Closing the formalities, Heiner Faust thanked everyone for helping make 2014 a special year in racing, after which the real party started, with dancing and live music continuing late into the night. To the delight of all guests, the entertainment included a special musical appearance by double Superbike World Champion and former BMW factory rider James Toseland, now a talented recording artist in his own right. Now, thoughts are turning to the 2015 racing season and with a new S 1000 RR expected to line up on grids across the world, expect the second BMW Motorrad Race Trophy to be just as hotly contested as this years was.
