Worldwide, rhubarb is considered a vegetable. However, in the United States, a New York court decided in 1947 that since rhubarb is used in the U.S. most often as a fruit, it is to be counted as a fruit for the purposes of regulations and duties. One result of this ruling was a reduction on imported rhubarb tariffs, as tariffs are higher for vegetables than fruits. Good night, friends; and God bless America.
