Worried about Jasper. He has had a cough since we found him and it - TopicsExpress

Worried about Jasper. He has had a cough since we found him and it is getting increasingly more congested sounding and once he coughed up thick white mucous. The team that evaluated him said it could be a respiratory infection or it could be heartworm but did nothing about it because they wanted to operate on his broken bones first (of course.... charge 5K for surgery and then worry if he will die from a preventable infection?!). I called Cornell almost two weeks ago because he had one huge pupil and one tiny pupil that were fixed even with a flashlight, etc and he was behaving oddly, very aggressive with everyone and everything which is the opposite of his usual. Cornell said they wouldnt worry about it and made him an appointment with cardiology for his cough to rule out heart worm in three weeks (which is now in ten days from tonight). He continues to cough and tonight after dinner he shook his head and a pea sized fleck of green mucous landed on James book cover. About fifteen minutes ago he was wheezing for breath and coughing and brought up a big green sputum. So I called again and they said its not an emergency because he is eating and drinking and not listless, but I should bring him in if I am worried. Well... I am unemployed, an agency is paying for his care and I cant just run in. They dont seem eager for me to bring him in, either. I dont understand these people. Why not GET THE CHEST XRAY FIRST to see what is causing his cough, something in his lungs, or something with his heart. And.. at this point if he is bringing up mucous, isnt that definitely his lungs and NOT his heart?
