Worship Moments: In Pastor Smalls absence, The Reverend Bresean Jenkins (pictured with his brother Kevin), Lay Leader Cindy Kent and Youth Minister Kevin Lewis welcomed all to Queens Chapel. We congratulated two new Certified Lay Ministers Ms. Vinita Gibson Gross and Ms. Yvonne Caughman. The Young Peoples Choir led us in praise and worship. Lay Leader Cindy Kent delivered the sermon entitled When Giving Thanks is Hard to Do spiritually based from Psalm 137:1-4. Ms. Kent pointed out that sometimes when dealing with issues in life, we ask how can we praise God in the place that we are in? Ms. Kent said there are three things to remember: 1) Praising God is not on demand or in denial. Authentic praise is never at the command of someone else external to you. 2) Praising God isnt about your place but His presence. God is a tabernicaling God, He is everywhere. Finally 3) Praise should always be in memory of His mercies. Ms. Kent said even though she is preaching from Psalm 137, Psalm 136 is before it and every line ends with His love endures forever. Ebenezer: In Pastor Smalls absence, The Reverend Bresean Jenkins delivered the sermon entitled In the Meantime spiritually based on Genesis 37:20. Reverend Jenkins referenced Dr. Kings I Have a Dream speech and reminded us that God will remain with you through your dreams. Your dreams, however, have a price tag (i.e. tears, sacrifices mistreatment). But God is the deliverer of your dreams so there is no need to compromise your walk with God. I am in Gods favor and through Him, I will fulfill my dreams. In the meantime, keep working for God while you are waiting for your breakthrough. While pursuing your dreams you probably encountered three people who messed over you. Hold up three fingers and tell them It didnt work you can not hold me back. Tell the naysayers, my commitment is not to you, but to God. Two powerful messages spoken and heard.
