Worshipping Worship or Worshipping Christ?: Idolatry happens when we make good things, ultimate things. Our modern Pentecostal church culture has made worship (i.e. Praise/Worship) central and an end in itself, rather than what it should be—a way of life with Christ at the center. The modern idea of worship has become the measure of what is acceptable, not Christ, who is Gods divine pattern and measure of all that is pleasing to Him. I have watched in horror and grieved as many mainline Pentecostal churches, have accepted and endorsed ministers and ministries that believe and teach contrary to what the bible says about our Christ and Pentecostal life. It doesnt take much at all anymore to unify contrasting or even opposing beliefs about Christ, Salvation, Sanctification, Holy Ghost baptism etc. If it sings, shouts, speaks in tongues, preaches, moves the crowd (worships) in a similar fashion, you can slap a Non-denominational label on it, overlook true bible gospel doctrine, accepted it and just enjoy the experience. I have also found that if we question or challenge this trend and way of thinking, were labeled as finger pointers, dividers, trouble makers, ministry attackers and TWICE in the last yr, I (yawz trooly ) was called a bully. Lol. I thought that was funny. I have found myself continually amazed that more people will rise up in defense of...and readily accept someone or something that is biblically/doctrinally incorrect, than rise up and defend what is right and true. I believe that this attitude and un-biblical view of worship portends a Trojan Horse at the gate of the mainline Pentecostal church that will bring such an amalgamation of unacceptable things, that we will really begin to understand what a true remnant is in coming days.
