Worthy of Our Praise They said with a loud voice: The Lamb who was slaughtered is worthy to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing! Revelation 5:12 John, exiled to Patmos for preaching Christ, received a glorious vision of heaven intended to encourage believers. Because of Roman persecution, John used figurative language to communicate. John saw angels, living creatures, and elders gathered around the Lamb, the risen Christ, seated on His throne in heaven. Despite the Roman emperor’s claim to be worthy of praise and honor, in John’s vision everyone worshiped Christ. Sometimes we are tempted to approach Jesus to get something or to pray only when things go wrong. Worship then becomes an attempt to manipulate Christ when times are tough. This verse reminds us to worship simply because He is worthy of praise. Christ is worthy because of who He is. He loves us, lived and died for us, rose again, forgives us, gives us hope, and seeks our good. May we go to Christ simply to praise Him because He is worthy of our praise.
