Would you be mine? Could you be mine? Wont you be my neighbor? Wont you please, wont you please, Please wont you be my neighbor? DO you remember this song?? I get asked this a lot… Not to be someone’s neighbor - but I get asked frequently… Please oh Please – Please won’t you be my EXECUTOR… Or trustee – or agent… My answer is NO. Not that I don’t care about my clients & not that I would not be able to do such a role… But I personally feel that it would be a conflict to put myself in that role for anyone not directly related to me… What I WILL do & have done now quite a few times now for clients is to NOMINATE a private professional fiduciary… Or on rare occasions a Corporate Fiduciary. What this means is that I am willing and able to choose the best qualified neutral third party to carry out these roles. This option is a huge benefit for many clients. Sometimes because of family dynamics. Sometimes because they don’t have family. Sometimes to just relieve their loved ones of the burden of the job of carrying out the work of settling someone’s’ estate… Who would you want to put in that role? So lets make the most of this beautiful day, Since were together, we might as well say, Would you be mine? Could you be mine? Wont you be my neighbor?
