Would you come to Truth or Consequences, NM for a World Karaoke Challenge National and International Finals? We normally host the National Finals in a large city and this would be a completely different experience. Coming to TorC (as the locals call it) would be more like a retreat/healing experience. TorC is a place where the air is clean, the sun is shining (80% of the days are sunny), there is no traffic (only 2 stop lights in town), there is affordable shopping and places to eat. The lodging is affordable (rooms starting at $40 per night). The mineral baths are affordable (starting at $5 for a 1/2 hour) and many places offer affordable massages, reflexology and other natural healing options. The community has many artists, musicians, healers, writers and the community is friendly to out-of-towners. We have two GREAT stages where the challenges could be held (one indoors and one outdoors) and they sit right next to each other in the downtown Historic Hot Springs District (which is walking distance of the host springs, shopping, lodging and food). Now I think that this might interest some of you, how would you like to go on a tour of Spaceport America? People from around the world come here to soak in the mineral bath but now we have people coming here to tour Spaceport America (which is where Richard Branson will be sending people to space on Virgin Galactic and Lady Gaga will be singing from space). The tour costs $60 ($30 for Sierra County and Dona Ana Residents) and it is a 3 1/2 hour tour. This would be a GREAT place to get photos ops of the singers (solo shots and group shots).
