Would you like to hear an inspiring story???? . . . Sometimes you are BLESSED to meet the most beautiful & INCREDIBLY INSPIRING people along your lifes journey! Last night I had the truly DIVINE pleasure of catching up with one of my absolute besties in the Lobby Bar in The Marriott Hotel in Surfers Paradise! My adorable friend, Bethany Pedersen, (my gorgeous blond!!), has just flown home to spend Christmas / New Year with her family here on the Coast. Bethy lives in Pattaya Beach in Thailand & has done so for a number of years now so when we do get the (rare) chance to catch up, its always a special occasion! Last night we caught up & she also introduced me to her gorgeous friend, Ann-Marie Loft McLeod, who also lives in Thailand with her family (in Pattaya Beach as well) & is also over here visiting her family for Christmas. We also caught up with another of our beautiful friends, Heather McLellan-Johnson & her family. What a treat & what a delightful surprise to see you Heather! . . . I have to tell you, Bethy moved me to tears last night. Tears of joy & absolute inspiration! You see, my beautiful friend has just returned from conquering her greatest life challenge so far. Just a couple weeks ago she, along with 9 other inspirational Aussies, climbed all the way up to the Mt Everest Base Camp! Talk about an epic adventure (& struggle!) just to get there! Bethy regaled us with tales of how incredibly difficult the 8 day trek was, battling nausea, struggling for breath, (due to the very thin air), loss of appetite, migraines & constant nose bleeds every day (all symptoms of altitude sickness). They finally ascended to a height at the Base Camp of around 5,500 metres above sea level (just over15,000 feet). Many, many times she wanted to throw the towel in & quit because it was so tough but two things kept her going. Firstly, her driving inner spirit (that finally won out over the negative thoughts that came so close to making her cave in & quit on a number of occasions) & the second thing was the HUGE swell of support she received daily from her wonderfully supportive family & friends right here on FB!! Yes, believe it or not, Bethy & I were chatting briefly one day here on FB shortly after she arrived at the Everest Base Camp! Apparently the internet reception up there is fine! Bethany my darling friend, you SERIOUSLY have to consider writing a book about an adventure that so few ever undertake or could ever comprehend in their life. What a BRILLIANT metaphor for the struggle of day to day life that we all endure & how we CAN win the day through the power of our determination, positive thoughts & firing our will of desire! God himself blessed me when he ensured our paths crossed in this life sweetheart. I will FORVER be grateful to our adorable mutual friend, Emma Hoger-Jefferies for organising for us to meet up that wonderful night at her place a couple of years ago!! Love you much honey. xxxx
